Cap Spartel is the northwest extremity of Africa's Atlantic coast.It is a dramatic nine-mile (14km) drive west from Tangier , where the exact point where the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean meet.its heights benefiting from relatively high levels of rainfall and humidity which favour the growth of vegetation. On its promontory stands a lighthouse built in 1865 by order of Sultan Mohammed Ben Abdel Rahman at the behest of foreign diplomats, and housing a collection of old framed photographs depicting lighthouses of the world. The area is a favorite destination for bird watchers. The sunsets from this vantage point are breathtaking.
