Rif Mountains
are very different from the Atlas Mountains to the south. Running from east to west along the warm Mediterranean coast of northern Morocco, they have a distinct European feel to them. A large percentage of the population in the Rif Mountains are Berbers called Rif-Kabyles or \"Riafa\". Although the region has had a long and turbulent history, tourism is fairly new to this beautiful area,extremely diverse. Almond trees and oleander blossom in the high valleys, mountain routes give views to wild-romantic panoramas. On the Mediterranean coast, golden-coloured sandy beaches and silent bays below the rocky cliffs invite a rest. The Medias of Tetouan and Chefchaouen are among the most picturesque in Morocco. Away from the main town of Chefchaouen, we trek through the numerous magnificent gorges, forests, and colourful traditional villages that are scattered throughout the mountains
