This is a one day excursion trip to Safi. After breakfast we will drive to get to Safi : 130 km/62 mi far. Visit the old city built in 16th century by the Portuguese, its ramparts . The city of safi was once known as a portugues city, the city was colonized by the portuguese back in 1502, from 1580 to 1640, Portugal was under Spanish dynastic rule, the portuguese abandoned Safi and was taken by the alawis during the sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah's rule.

Safi is one of the most charming and beautiful Moroccan cities located on the atlantic coast, , its port is one of the most important ports in Morocco, the city was once considered as the world's sardines capital and potery capital, it contains as early as the 60's one of the important industrial complexes of phosphat transformation, actually Safi has as many as 290.000 Habitants.

The city it self is charming, with an old city very much alive. Here you might be tempted to buy pottery, seeing all shapes and patterns in a lot of shops, but then you are in one of the best places in Morocco.

There are plenty of opportunities to walk around and look at people working on their pottery. When you have been in places like Moulay Idriss you will have seen the beautiful covering on the roofs, made out of green tiles. Safi is the place where these are produced.
